Early Phoenix was lined and fed with a network of canals delivering water to a once barren desert floor. Lining the canals and early streets were thousands of trees. Trees provided the first “air conditioning” to early Phoenix dwellers. Folks in the late 1800s and the early part of the 20th century didn’t take shade for granted-do you?
