Weekly Tip: Keep It Green!!
March is the “Green” month isn’t it? Well in keeping with that, don’t neglect to keep your winter lawn green by fertilizing it (probably for the last time) with a good quality lawn food like “All Seasons” 21-7-14. You may even notice with the warmer weather your dormant bermuda grass is stating to green up a bit. If that is the case applying All Seasons lawn food will help it get going even a little quicker. We are headed into party and outdoor living season and nothing makes a landscape look prettier than a beautiful green lawn-if you have one! So in keeping with St. Patrick’s Day and the “keepin’ o the green” be sure to help it along with a good fertilizing!! Remember you can bring in a copy of this blog, or print out the coupon off of the Rosie On The House website/newsletter and get 20% OFF this or other Gro Well products that are mentioned every Saturday during the Garden segment of the Rosie On The House radio show. The gardening portion of the show is from 8-9 on KTAR 92.3 fm! Tune in and green up! Good Growin’

Weekly Gardening Tip: What’s Buggin’ You?
As the weather gets better and better: we like it , plants like it, but so do some unwanted visitors! Aphids seem to be the first to show up,especially on vegetable plants and almost any new growth that is popping on plants right now. In most cases they do little harm especially on trees and landscape ornamental s. In the case of young tender vegetable
plants, however, they might cause enough damage or slow growth down enough you’ll want to control them. The remedies are numerous from washing with water to using conventional pesticides and everything in between. Aphids are pretty easy to kill as they are soft bodied. We recommend using non toxic methods like ferti lome “triple action” which contains neem oil or “spinosad”. Lady bugs are a fun and effective way to control aphids as well. We will be getting our first shipment of these petite beetles this weekend! Be sure to match the remedy with the scope of the problem and use common sense when applying any product even if it is “organic” (yes I’m talking about you Rosie!). Get out and enjoy the garden, remember there is not one unless there is a gardener! Good Growin!

Weekly Garden Tip: Time To Prune!
We generally consider ourselves out of the woods and frost free around the middle of February or on about Valentine’s Day. So here we are and we really didn’t have much if any damaging frost this past winter so the urge to prune might not be as great. You should however remember how great those frost damage plants (if they survived) looked by the middle or end of March and really all summer after you pruned them back hard last year. Wasn’t it nice to have to continually prune them to keep the plant the right size and end up with a “sheared” ball or cube? Even though we didn’t have a hard freeze this is the time to prune back those spring and summer blooming semi tropical to tropical bushes, shrubs, and vines. Most of them bloom on “new” growth so pruning them severely now will encourage lots of tender new shoots this spring and hence lots of color. And by pruning back by at least 1/3 of the plant’s size you shouldn’t have to do too much if any pruning later in the season to keep it to size!
Be sure after you’ve pruned to fertilize so that the new growth is quick to come on and you’ll have a fantastic looking spring landscape with lots of luxuriant new growth and blooms!
Be sure to listen in Saturday am at 8 to the “in the garden” segment of the Rosie On The House show on 92.3fm KTAR. You can hear this tip and get answers to lots of garden questions! Also by printing out this tip and bringing it in or if you subscribe to our weekly newsletter the “link” to the Rosie Coupon you can save 20% Off on any one Gro Well Product!! Good Growin’
