What’s Growing On:

How Does Your Garden Grow?
just plant somethin

Harper’s hopes your garden is growing or about to grow very well. Here are some Tips:
  • Continue to plant warm season vegetables (tomatoes, peppers, squash, cucumbers, eggplant, okra, melons…) Be sure your soil is well prepared! See our garden preparation guide for guaranteed success!Harper’s Garden Preparation Guide
  • Begin planting warm season annual flowers-Marigolds,Zinnias,Vinca,Portulaca…
  • Plant,Plant,Plant Trees, Shrubs,Vines…All Danger of Frost Is over now and there is no reason to hold back. If you need ideas-We Make House Calls!! Don’t Just Stand There..Plant Something!!
  • Begin fertilizing summer lawns as green up begins!
  • Control weeds while they’re young-this recent rain will spur lots of new annual weed growth-watch out!
  • Monitor new growth on veggies, roses, hibiscus and more for aphids! We just received a new shipment of Lady Bugs yesterday!!
  • Don’t forget to fertilize those recently planted veggies and flowers. Remember annuals should never slow down their growth, don’t let them by neglecting to fertilize regularly after planting. We know many soils say they have fertilizer in them, and for some climates it may be enough due to sufficient rainfall and shorter seasons. Here in the desert , however, we water a lot and most of the available nutrients are gone in a few weeks. We carry fertilizer organic and conventional for any application!
  • Smelling Citrus-are you eating the fruits of your labor? Why not plant a citrus tree today? Don’t have room? Try a dwarf citrus in a pot-They’re Patio Perfect!!
  • Stop and smell the roses-Don’t have any? Well they can be planted now and are available in pots for instant color and success-Be sure you are fertilizing your existing roses monthly now!!

Enjoy The Great Outdoors!

Harper’s Weekly Garden Tip:

Take a deep breath. Can you smell ‘em? Yep, the sweet smell of citrus blossoms, means it is spring and time to plant -citrus as well!! Why not plant something that double in the program. Citrus provide shade, privacy, fragrance, and color to the landscape and patio. They come in standard sizes or in dwarf which can doll up your patio and be grown in containers as well as in the ground. Ornamental citrus or a.k.a. sour orange makes a great screen or hedge and provides great color (the ripe fruit) and the fragrance as well. So if you’re planning out your landscape or just looking to replace a tree or large shrub in the garden or on the patio, citrus might just be the ticket!

If you need help deciding where to plant or how to design your garden we can help with that too. Harper’s landscape team would be glad to come out and see how citrus might just fit into that resort style backyard you’d like to plan and have done, just in time for our outdoor living season! Give Jerry Harper a call today to set up an evaluation of your garden. You can reach Jerry at 602 659 5994. Of course you can come in and pick up a nice dwarf citrus and take it home with your today, or we will deliver and plant any citrus tree for you! Good Growin’
