Ladies Day Today…3rd Saturday Comin’Up!
First order of business is to announce the winner of the “name that plant contests” from yesterday. We had a virtual tie-Sue LeHew and Susan Stavros both guessed “Geranium” correctly at about the same time. So, both Susans are winners and will receive a free Geranium when they are ready around mid October! We received our first shipment of bulbs yesterday-Iris,Tulips,Freesias,Hyacinths, and more are on their way. Speaking of bulbs…Our first 3rd Saturday of the month Garden Fair will be this coming Saturday, September 17th. One of our participants
is the Sun Country Iris Society with their annual Rhizome Sale! Frank the farmer, Mike the Hot dog man, Gro Well and a square foot gardening demo, the City of Mesa and composting……all participating at either store, more details to come. This is a fun event and we’ll be holding as usual every 3rd Saturday until May!

It Is That Saturday Again!
3rd Saturdays are special days at Harpers. We have our garden club meeting at 10am at both locations. There is an edible landscape class at 9am at the Mesa location, and our Open Air Market at our Scottsdale location benefiting Team Las Bombas (3 day walk for the cure) in Scottsdale.Oscar’s coffee bar will serve coffee and baked goods, Mike the Hot Dog man will cook killer dogs, Frank the Farmer will be there with produce and maybe even a goat or two. Our featured topic for our Garden Club Meeting is preparing your garden and landscape for summer. Chuck Robbins, owner of Go Natural Tree Paint will talk about his product in Mesa and Jay Harper will give the talk in Scottsdale. So if you want to learn about what you can landscape with and eat it too, how to keep you plants cool, or buy a fresh tomato, Harper’s is the place to be today. Oh by the way, tune in to 82.3 fm to get warmed up at 8am and listen to the garden segment of the Rosie On The House Show. Great Growing!!

3rd Saturday Fun and Festivities-Don’t Miss It!
It all starts at 8am with the Harper’s garden segment on the Rosie On The House show on KTAR 92.3fm. Call in or listen to the “Tip Of The Week” which you can ,by the way, bring in a printed copy of this and get 20% OFF of the product (systemic insecticide granules). Then at 9am our Open Air Garden Fair begins at the Scottsdale location and a class on Edible Landscaping in Mesa. At 10 am Eco Scraps will be on hand at both locations to teach you how to compost, yes turn garbage into a garden! All of this fun is free and informative. The Garden Fair features Hot Dogs, Music, and Home Grown Produce and we raise money for a Charity every month. Come and by a raffle ticket to support them and get a chance to concerts, prizes, Easter Baskets and more!! Whatever your fancy from Artichokes to ZZ top we probably have it covered to day.
