The Weekend Begins!!

Finally for the first time in November, a weekend without rain or rain even in the forecast. This is the last weekend before those Thanksgiving guests arrive, are you ready? Harper’s hopes we can help. New shipments of blooming bedding plants and geraniums arrive today along with all kinds of trees and shrubs already in stock and just waiting for a good home! Looking for new ideas, our 3rd Saturday Garden Event promises to have a few of those tomorrow for sure. In Mesa learn about Permaculture, Edible landscaping, Growing Citrus, and Deciduous fruit trees. The Master Gardeners will also be on hand to answer questions. In Scottsdale learn about ponds and pond care from the Pond Gnome, and our everfaithful Frank the Farmer will have fresh grown produce and eggs, home made cupcakes, jams and jellies, and of course Mike the Hot Dog Man will be grillin away!! Jay Harper will discuss cool season gardening and more. We hope you’ll kick off your weekend and stay with us all weekend long!! Do you even know what that is? I just found out. The concept is to try and consumer food grown as near as possible to where you live. If you find this concept interesting or want to know how you can grow even more of your own food, you need to come by Saturday to our 3rd Saturday event at Harper’s. At our Mesa location, 10 am Heather Welch, a permaculture designer will be on hand to introduce the concept of permaculture. As we celebrate this season of Thanksgiving with abundant food, learn how you can grow or obtain much of it yourself!

They’re Back!!

Hard to imagine a mid October without Geraniums and visa versa! The true sign that Fall is upon us-Geraniums showing up!! We’re getting ready for a big weekend. Our 3rd Saturday Garden Club meets tomorrow at 10 am. The Pond Gome and Integrity Tree Service will be holding court in Scottsdale along with Frank the Farmer’s produce stand. Frank told me he is bringing 20 dozen eggs tomorrow! In Mesa Jeff and Jay Harper will be talking Early order or as Jeff Quaid, aka “little Jeff” called it -Custom Order Fruit Trees! You can order just about any deciduous fruit tree from Apples to Walnuts with no minimum amount! Come on in and we’ll show you how!!

Don’t You Just Love OCTOBER???We sure do. Nice cool evenings and warm days make for the perfect growing weather. No matter if it is starting your winter lawn or planting petunias, geraniums,or winter vegetables-the 60 degree nights and 90 degree days are the best! Our garden club meets at 10 am at both locations. Integrity Tree Service will be conducting in Scottsdale. The topic will be how to help your plants recover from a hot stressful summer.
